We went on a bit of a mission to track down one of the most talked-about pizza spots in South East Queensland: Franc’s Jr in Nobby’s, Gold Coast. By the time we arrived, the line was already moving and the vibe was buzzing—everyone waiting patiently, clearly expecting something special. A mate had told me “you can’t lose with anything on the menu,” so we did what felt like the right move: one safe pick and one adventurous one. We ordered the Cheese Pizza, plus the Detroit-style meatball and pesto. They just don’t miss. The Cheese Pizza might sound simple, but “basic” isn’t in Franc’s vocabulary. The flavour balance is unreal—rich, silky cheese, a sauce that actually tastes like it matters, and a crust that holds everything together without stealing the show. Every slice had that “one more bite” pull, the kind of pizza you keep eating even after you’ve decided you’re full. And then there’s the Detroit-style meatball and pesto. Hands down the standout. It’s got that thick, crispy-edged base Detroit is famous for, loaded in the best way—big flavour, perfect texture, and toppings that work together like they were made for it. Every bite was worth slowing down for, and when we finished, I genuinely considered walking back up and ordering another one straight away. It has no right being that good. The staff were just as impressive—friendly, switched on, and they actually know the menu inside out. Quick to help, happy to recommend, and they keep things moving without making you feel rushed. If you haven’t been to Franc’s Jr yet, you’re missing out. With 2026 around the corner, put it on your list—because if there’s a better pizza out there, I haven’t found it.

I wish I took more pictures of the food, but it was too good, The phone did not eat first. This is the best pizza I’ve had in the Gold Coast. I’ve thought About it daily since Trying it for the first time. The atmosphere and The restaurant itself is so cute, The staff, we’re all incredible. I would recommend booking a reservation during the evening as it’s a popular plac, But I literally will recommend this place to everyone I know. I can’t wait to come back

Absolutely beautiful pizzeria! This Michigan native highly recommends the Detroit style pizza - specifically The Red Stripe and add pepperoni. Their garlic focaccia is *chef's kiss*

Loved it. The food is simply exceptional, great variety, which made it super hard to choose, but more than happy to go back to try it all! Highly recommend going earlier to secure a spot as we had to wait 1.5hrs before getting in ( 2 people ), but worth the wait, just grab a drink from the place next door ( also amazing btw ! ). The staff are all friendly and welcoming, and service was quick. Will be back for sure, probably one of the best places for pizza!

Incredible pizza!! The staff are lovely and a great system for waiting on tables. We only waited 15 mins for a table. Was very loud inside but that’s understandable since we were there at the busiest day and the busiest time of night. Would love to come back!

My partner and I had the pleasure of dining in at Franc JRS. The staff were super warm and provided great service, we were checked in on, taken care of and offered fantastic menu recommendations. The food was exceptional, we were so full but were lucky enough to be able to pack our leftovers away in a takeaway box. We will most definitely be back! Thank you!

100% worth the trip to try this pizza. It’s hard to come by a good gluten free pizza store, this place was exceptional. I can only imagine how good the normal dough must be! So I’ll be recommending to the friends to try this place ASAP Thank you

A little slice of New York on the Gold Coast! Franc Jrs is the spot for amazing pizza — great vibe, friendly staff, and pizzas to die for. I got the Orange Stripe Detroit-style with pepperoni and it was elite! Loved it so much I pre-ordered one to take with me to Melbourne the next day. Everyone was super friendly the whole night. If you’re after a good pizza spot, this is the place!
